The EKAB, on the basis of its nationwide action plan on the operational readiness of the Healthcare Formations and the coordination of the provision of emergency pre-hospital care in situations of extraordinary needs and crises, will carry out a readiness control program, Training and Exercises for the Management of SARS-CoV-2 Suspected and Confirmed Cases, by health professionals, but also the executives of the involved local bodies and services of the island country.
Based on the upcoming gradual lifting of measures for tourism and the required protection of public health of visitors, but also of the inhabitants of the tourist destinations of island Greece, the Healthcare Business Center (ΚΕΠΥ) and the Institute of Vocational Training (IEK) Ambulance, created a readiness control program, training and exercises with the code name “ΕΚΑΒ be S.A.F.E.” [Stay Alert Fully Educated], which is addressed [primarily] to the health officials of the Aegean islands [islands that have hospitals and mainly Health Centers or Regional Clinics] but also to the executives of the local services involved in carrying out air travel, but also floating ports [Coast Guard - Hellenic Coast Guard].
The main goal of the EKAB program is S.A.F.E..
The readiness and adequacy of the knowledge of all hospital executives is ensured., of the Health Centers, of the Regional Clinics, of the Coast Guard, of the involved executives of Regional or Local Government etc., on the observance of individual protection measures, but also in the provision of emergency pre-hospital care [per case] to support patients' vital functions during the time before safe delivery of a suspected or confirmed SARS-CoV-2 case, at a Covid-19 reference hospital.
The first stage of the readiness control program, training and exercises “ΕΚΑΒ be S.A.F.E.” will start at 26 May 2020 and will include the following Hospitals and Health Centers of the 2nd Health District:
Arrival of the EKAB business team in Syros, conducting readiness control, training and exercises of the Health personnel of Syros Hospital, but also the executives of the Syros Port Authority in the management of a suspicious or confirmed case of SARS-CoV-2.
Carrying out readiness control, training and exercises of its Health personnel KY Tinos, of KY Mykonos, but also the executives of the local Port Authorities in the management of a suspected or confirmed case of SARS-CoV-2.
Carrying out readiness control, training and exercises of its Health personnel General Hospital – Naxos Health Center, of KY Paros, of Antiparos Regional Clinic, but also the executives of the local Port Authorities in the management of a suspected or confirmed case of SARS-CoV-2.
The first stage of the readiness control program, training and exercises “ΕΚΑΒ be S.A.F.E.”, will take place under operational supervision of EKAB President Nikos Papaefstathiou and Commander of the Piraeus Health District & Aegean [2the Y.PE.] Christos Roilou, while the Secretary General of Island Policy of the Ministry of Shipping Christiana Kalogirou.
The readiness control program, training and exercises “ΕΚΑΒ be S.A.F.E.”, will continue in similar Health formations [hospitals, Health centres, regional Surgeries] and Port Authorities, in Alonissos, in Amorgos, in Anafi, in Astypalaia, at Thassos, in Ithaca, in Virus, at Karpathos, at Kaso, at Kimolos, in the Koufonissi, to Lipsi, at Maximum, at Apple, at Nisyros, to Paxos, at Patmos, at Samothrace, at Serifos, at Sikinos, at Sifnos, at Skiathos, at Skopelos, at Skyros, at Symi, at Tilos, at Folegandros et al.
At the same time all the data and data, regarding the management of each emergency SARS-CoV-2 [suspicious or confirmed], will be posted in a special field on the EKAB website from where, at any time [24 24 hours a day], the health and business executives involved from all over Greece will have the opportunity to watch the respective audiovisual material.
The readiness control program, training and exercises “ΕΚΑΒ be S.A.F.E.” will be completed by 20 June 2020, while the movements of the operational teams of EKAB, to the island destinations of the country, will be made with the subscription (where required) of the vessels of the Coast Guard-Hellenic Coast Guard.
