The European Spirits Association announced the signing of Memorandum of Understanding on energy and nutritional labeling of alcoholic beverages.
At 4 June, in Paris, The Annual General Meeting of, the European Spirits Association signed a memorandum of understanding on labeling and labeling in this energy and nutritional value, in the presence of Health Commissioner vytenis andriukaitis.

The label and the web
Specifically, labeling of calories will be placed on the labels of alcoholic beverages (and hence of wine bottles) in two forms: the number of calories per 100 mL and the number per unit serving.

The standards are developed in cooperation with GS1 and will be available through open applications, which can therefore be used by mobile applications. It should be noted that the additive not present in the final product will not be considered as ingredients.
To signal its firm commitment to the development framework of the Protocol, the European Spirits Association is also committed to targets. Until 2020, the 25% of bottles marketed in the EU should display information on energy value (calories). The share will rise to 50% by the end of 2021 and to 66% by the end of 2022.
